The authors are concerned with the scalar field equation \(-\Delta u+a(x) u=|u|^{p-2}u\) in \({\mathbb R}^N\), where \(N\geq 2\), \(2<p<2N/(N-2)\), and \(a(x)\) is a positive function not necessarily symmetric. Under some additional hypotheses on \(a(x)\) the authors prove the existence of infinitely many solutions \(u\in H^1({\mathbb R}^N)\) which may be either nodal or constant-sign solutions.
