We recall that a real Banach space \(X\) is said to be nice if, for any Banach space \(Y\) and for any extreme point \(T\) of the unit ball of \({\mathcal L}( Y,X)\), \(T^\ast\) maps extreme points of the dual unit ball to extreme points. The authors give a sufficient condition for a nice Banach space to be isometric to \(c_0(I)\) for a discrete set \(I\). Using their earlier work [Bull. Malays. Math. Sci. Soc. (2) 40, No. 4, 1613--1621 (2017; Zbl 1384.46010)] (see also the review by this reviewer), they first show that, if \(E_{X^\ast}\) denotes the set of extreme points of the dual unit ball, then for any \(e_0^\ast \in E_{X^\ast}\), \(\|\mathbb Re_0^\ast + e^\ast\| = 1\) for every extreme point \(e^\ast\) that is different from \(\pm e_0^\ast\). The conclusion then follows from Proposition 2 of the earlier work cited. These ideas are then applied to spaces of affine continuous functions vanishing at an extreme point.
