In the paper under review, the authors investigate the Neumann problem for higher order elliptic equations with symmetric coefficients in the half space \(\mathbb{R}^{n+1}_+\). They consider elliptic differential operators of the form \[ Lu=(-1)^m\sum_{|\alpha|=|\beta|=m}\partial^\alpha (A_{\alpha \beta}\partial^\beta u)\, . \] They assume that the operator is self-adjoint and that the coefficients \(A\) are such that \[ A(x,t)=A(x,s)=A(x)\qquad \forall x \in \mathbb{R}^n\, , \quad \forall s,t \in \mathbb{R}\, . \] Then they establish well posedness of the Neumann problem in \(\mathbb{R}^{n+1}_+\) with boundary data in the Lebesgue space \(L^2(\mathbb{R}^n)\) or in the Sobolev space \(\dot W^2_{-1}(\mathbb{R}^n)\). The result is based on a higher order and one sided version of the classic Rellich identity.
