The authors prove some necessary conditions for compactness of the weighted \(\overline{\partial}\)-Neumann operator on \(L^2_{(0,q)}(\mathbb{C}^n,e^{-\phi})\). They also prove a result about non-compactness of the \(\overline{\partial}\)-Neumann operator in case \(\phi(z_1,\dots,z_n)=\phi_1(z_1)+\cdots +\phi_n(z_n)\). We mention the following two results from the paper. Theorem 3.1. Let \(\phi:\mathbb{C}^n\to \mathbb{R}\) be a \(C^2\)-smooth plurisubharmonic function such that the space of weighted entire functions \(A^2(\mathbb{C}^n,e^{-\phi})\) is infinite-dimensional. Assume that the (weighted) \(\overline{\partial}\)-Neumann operator \(N^{\phi}_{0,q}: L^2_{(0,q)}(\mathbb{C}^n,e^{-\phi})\to L^2_{(0,q)}(\mathbb{C}^n,e^{-\phi})\) is compact. Then \(\limsup_{|z|\to\infty}\mathrm{trace}(H_{\phi}(z))=\infty\) where \(H_{\phi}\) denotes the complex Hessian of \(\phi\). Theorem 4.1. Let \(\phi:\mathbb{C}^n\to \mathbb{R}\) be a smooth plurisubharmonic function. Then \(\square_{0,n}^{\phi}\) has a compact resolvent on \(L^2_{(0,n)}(\mathbb{C}^n,e^{-\phi})\) if and only if the magnetic Schrödinger operator \(-\Delta_A+V\) has compact resolvent on \(L^2(\mathbb{R}^{2n})\) where \(\Delta_A=\sum_{j=1}^n((-\partial_{x_j}-i\phi_{y_j}/2)^2 +(-\partial_{y_j}+i\phi_{x_j}/2)^2)\) and \(V= 2\,\mathrm{trace}(H_{\phi})\). In particular, if \(\square_{0,q}^{\phi}\) has compact resolvent for some \(1\leq q\leq n\) then \(\lim_{|z|\to \infty}\int_{B(z,1)}(\mathrm{trace}(H_{\phi}(\xi)))^2dV(\xi)=\infty\).
