The author extends a recent result of \textit{A. Hinrichs} et al. [Monatsh. Math. 190, No. 2, 333--352 (2019; Zbl 1443.11149)] and shows (Theorem 1) that if a sequence \((x_n)\) in the \(d\)-dimensional torus, \(\mathbb{T}^d\), satisfies for all \(s>0\), \[ \lim_{N\rightarrow \infty} \frac{1}{N} \# \left \{ 1 \leq m \neq n \leq N : \| x_m - x_n \|_2 \leq \frac{s}{N^{1/d}} \right \} = \omega_d s^d, \] in which \(\omega_d\) is the volume of the unit ball, then \((x_n)\) is uniformly distributed. The main ingredient of the proof is a particular exponential sum estimate that links the property of having Poissonian pair correlations via the Weyl criterion to the property of being uniformly distributed. Interestingly, this estimate highlights very well that having Poissonian Pair Correlations is a much stronger condition for a sequence than being uniformly distributed. The author uses his technique to rederive (see [\textit{C. Aistleitner} et al., J. Number Theory 182, 206--220 (2018; Zbl 1415.11106)] and [\textit{S. Grepstad} and \textit{G. Larcher}, Arch. Math. 109, No. 2, 143--149 (2017; Zbl 1387.11064)]) the related result for \(d=1\) as well (Theorem 2).
