In this paper, the authors study a singularly perturbed semilinear boundary value problem with a discontinuous right-hand side \[ \mu^2\frac{d^2 u}{dx^2}=f(u,x,\mu), \quad 0 < x < 1, \] subject to the Neumann boundary condition \[ \frac{d u}{dx}(0,\mu)=0, \quad \frac{d u}{dx}(1,\mu)=0, \] where \(f(u,x,\mu)=f^{(-)}(u,x,\mu)\) for \(x\in[0,x_0)\) and \(f(u,x,\mu)=f^{(+)}(u,x,\mu)\) for \(x\in[x_0,1],\) \(x_0\in(0,1)\) is given. It is assumed that a degenerate equation \(f(u,x,0)=0\) has double roots on the left and right of the discontinuity point \(x_0\); \(\mu>0\) is a small parameter and \(u\) is a scalar function. An algorithm for constructing an asymptotic approximation of the solution with an internal transition layer at \(x_0\) is proposed, and the existence of contrast structure solution as well as the uniform validity of formal asymptotic solution is proved by using the matching method.
