The authors study interconnections between ultrametrizable topologies and some related properties of distance sets of ultrametrics which are compatible with these topologies. They prove that the so-called distance sets are order isomorphic for all infinite totally bounded ultrametric spaces. For instance, it is shown in Theorem \(4.7\) that an ultrametrizable infinite topological space \((X,\tau)\) is compact if and only if any two ultrametrics, compatible with \(\tau\), have the same order isomorphic distance sets. It is also shown in Theorem \(4.12\) that an ultrametrizable topological space \((X,\tau)\) is separable if and only if every ultrametric, compatible with \(\tau\), has at most countable range set.
