In this very interesting paper, the authors study divergence form elliptic, and degenerate elliptic operators in a domain \(\Omega\subset\mathbb{R}^n\). They establish the equivalence between the uniform rectifiability of the boundary \(\partial\Omega\) and weak Carleson condition on the good approximation of the Green function \(G\) by affine, or distance, functions. The authors provide necessary and sufficient conditions in the case of elliptic operators in a non-tangential access domain with \(n-1\)-dimensional boundary, and also in the case of degenerate elliptic operators adapted to a domain with an Ahlfors regular boundary of larger co-dimension. Such necessary and sufficient conditions are provided in the form of Carleson packing conditions on the collection of balls centered on \(\partial\Omega\) where \(G\) is not well approximated. The results obtained are optimal and provide a full characterization of uniform rectifiability under standard mild topological assumptions. Moreover, this paper provides the first PDE characterization of uniform rectifiability for a set of dimension \(d\), with \(d<n-1\), in \(\mathbb{R}^n\). This paper further provides a technique to deal with the approximability of the gradient of the Green function, along with the comparison of the Green function to a version of the distance to the original set.
