The authors consider the symmetrical isentropic flow between two circular coaxial cylinders. The governing system is the compressible Navier-Stokes system in one spatial dimension (the radial one). The focus is on the convergence of the system to the relaxed one, as the shear viscosity vanishes. The authors derive explicit Prandtl-type boundary layer equations and prove the global stability of the boundary layer profile. Also, they estimate the optimal convergence rate without any smallness assumption on the initial and boundary data.
