Let \(\pi\) denote an irreducible cuspidal automorphic representation of a semi-simple reductive group \(G\) over a number field \(F\). Suppose that \(\pi\) is cohomological with respect to the trivial coefficient system, Steinberg at a finite place \(\mathfrak{p}\) of \(F\), and that a certain form of strong multiplicity one holds for \(\pi\). Also, assume that \(G\) is split over \(\mathfrak{p}\). In the paper under the review, the author attaches to \(\pi\) automorphic \(\mathcal{L}\)-invariants, based on the cohomology of \(\mathfrak{p}\)-arithmetic subgroups of \(G\). This generalizes the known constructions for the case of \(\mathrm{GL}_2\). For certain representations of unitary groups, it is proved that the automorphic \(\mathcal{L}\)-invariants are equal to Fontaine-Mazur \(\mathcal{L}\)-invariants of the associated Galois representations. The author shows that the introduced \(\mathcal{L}\)-invariants can be detected by completed cohomology and that when the \(\pi\)-isotypic part of cohomology is cyclic the definition of \(\mathcal{L}\)-invariants does not depend on the choice of the degree of cohomology in which \(\pi\) occurs.
