Let \(1<p<\infty\), \( 0<\frac{n}{p}+r< \frac{n}{p}\), and let us denote by \(Q_{j,m}\), \(j\in \mathbb{Z}\), \(m\in \mathbb{Z}^n\), the usual dyadic cubes in \(\mathbb{R}^n\) with sides of length \(2^{-j}\) parallel to the axes of coordinates and \(2^{-j m}\) as the lower left corner. The local Morrey space \({\mathcal L}_p^r(\mathbb{R}^n)\) is defined as the locally \(p\)-integrable functions such that \[ \|f\|_{{\mathcal L}_p^r(\mathbb{R}^n)}=\sup_{j\in \mathbb{N}_0, M\in \mathbb{Z}^n} 2^{j(n/p+r)} \|f\|_{L^p(Q_{j,M})}, \] is finite. Similarly, the global Morrey spaces \(L_p^r(\mathbb{R}^n)\) are considered and defined as the locally \(p\)-integrable functions such that \[ \|f\|_{ L_p^r(\mathbb{R}^n)}=\sup_{j\in \mathbb{Z}, M\in \mathbb{Z}^n} 2^{j(n/p+r)} \|f\|_{L^p(Q_{j,M})}, \] is finite. The paper deals with the characterization of some functional properties of these spaces and, in particular, with the description of the corresponding dual and predual spaces. The results are presented as self-contained and it represents a consistent material where some properties of the spaces are proved such as the non-separability of the Morrey spaces, the density in their predual spaces of functions in the Schwartz class with compact support, \(D(\mathbb{R}^n)\), and the extensions to \(L_p^r(\mathbb{R}^n)\) of Calderón-Zygmund operators whose domain is \(D(\mathbb{R}^n)\).
