Many representations of quantized enveloping algebras have crystal bases (as introduced independently by Lusztig and Kashiwara). Many examples have been given in the literature already and this work adds to these: crystals for the Kirillov-Reshetikhin \(U_{q}(D_{4}^{(3)})\)-module corresponding to the middle vertex of the Dynkin diagram are considered. More specifically, a perfect crystal of any level is constructed; the definition of such crystals is technical and omitted here. The construction is done completely explicitly and many formulae are given. In addition to the specific example considered, a more general uniqueness theorem is also proved (Theorem 6.1). Namely, consider an affine-type algebra in whose Dynkin diagram the exceptional vertex \(0\) is connected only to the vertex labelled \(1\) and only with a single bond. Then if one takes two crystals whose decomposition takes a certain form on restricting to the underlying finite-type algebra, then the two crystals are isomorphic. That is, under appropriate conditions, there is a unique way to draw the \(0\)-arrows in this restricted crystal.
