The paper studies quadratic systems with a first integral \[ H(x,y)=x^{-3}[\tfrac12y^2+Ax^2-(A+1)x+\tfrac13(A+2)], \;\;A>0, \] having one center and one saddle. The Poincaré displacement map related to small degree \(n\) polynomial perturbations has the form \(d(h,\varepsilon)=\varepsilon M_1(h)+\varepsilon^2 M_2(h)+\ldots\) It is proved that if \(M_1(h)\not\equiv 0\), then the perturbed system has in any compact domain \(K\subset {\mathbb R}^2\) at most 2, 5, \(3n-7\) limit cycles, for \(n=2\), \(n=3\), \(n\geq 4\), respectively. When \(M_1(h)\equiv 0\) and \(M_2(h)\not\equiv 0\), the perturbed system has in \(K\) at most 2, 11, \(6n-13\) limit cycles, respectively. As a consequence, any small quadratic perturbation produces at most two limit cycles in the finite plane. The proof uses appropriate decompositions of rational one-forms and the method of Abelian integrals.
