In this paper, the authors show that the variety \(\mathfrak{Nil}_n\), \(n\geq 2\), of all \(n\)-dimensional nilpotent algebras over the field \(\mathbb{C}\) is irreducible and has dimension \(\frac{(n-1)n(n+1)}{3}\). For \(n\geq 3\), the authors define a family of algebras \(\mathfrak{R}_n\) such that the closure of the union of the orbits of all \(A\in\mathfrak{R}_n\) coincides with \(\mathfrak{Nil}_n\). We note that the general linear group \(GL_n(\mathbb{C})\) acts on the space of algebra structures of an \(n\)-dimensional vector space through change of base base. The set \(\mathfrak{R}_n\) consists of all nilpotent algebras with basis \((e_i)_{i=1}^n\) whose structure constants \(c_{ij}^k\) satisfy \(c_{i,j}^k=0\) if \(k\leq \max\{i,j\}\), \(e_i^2=e_{i+1}\) and \(c_{1i}^{i+1}=0\) for \(1<i<n\), \(c_{21}^3=1\), \(e_1^2=e_2\). The remaining structure constants \(c_{ij}^k\) are arbitrary independent complex parameters. The authors of the paper obtain analogous results for the subvarieties of commutative and anticommutative algebras.
