Degenerations of 8-dimensional 2-step nilpotent Lie algebras (Q2230598)

Basing on classification of \(8\)-dimensional \(2\)-step nilpotent complex Lie algebras available from the literature, the author describes all degenerations between such algebras, and irreducible components in the corresponding algebraic variety. As a tool to establish non-degenerations, some invariants are considered, such as dimension of the orbit under the action of the general linear group, dimension of the \(k\)th cohomology, and dimension of the maximal abelian subalgebra.
