The paper deals with the study of singular integral operators with slowly oscillating coefficients and orientation preserving non-Carleman shifts in the \(L_p({\mathbb R}^n)\)-setting. The obtained results generalize those obtained in the paper [\textit{Yu. I. Karlovich} and \textit{V. G. Kravchenko}, ``Singular integral equations with non-Carleman shift on an open contour'', Differ. Equations 17, 1408--1417 (1982); translation from Differ. Uravn. 17, 2212--2223 (1981; Zbl 0517.45003)]. In contrast to previous applications of pseudodifferential operators, the present one is based on a simpler theory of pseudodifferential operators with non-compound non-regular symbols combined with Allan-Douglas local principle and invertibility results for functional operators. This allows to reduce the smoothness of shifts up to the existence of slowly oscillating first derivatives.
