Let \(R\) be a ring with finite Gorenstein weak global dimension (see [\textit{L. W. Christensen} et al., Math. Nachr. 294, No. 11, 2121--2128 (2021; Zbl 1537.16008)]). Classes of rings that satisfy this condition include left Gorenstein rings, Ding-chen rings, and Gorenstein \(n\)-coherent rings. The main result of the reviewed article seeks to generalize a result from [\textit{X.-W. Chen}, J. Algebra 324, No. 10, 2718--2731 (2010; Zbl 1239.18010)] on left Gorenstein rings. Specifically, the authors explicitly construct a triangle equivalence \(K(GProj) \cong K(GInj)\) that can be restricted to a triangle equivalence \(K(Proj) \cong K(Inj)\), where \(K(Gproj)\) is the homotopy category of Gorenstein projective modules, \(K(GInj)\) is the homotopy category of Gorenstein injective modules, \(K(Proj)\) the homotopy category of projective modules, and \(K(Inj)\) the homotopy category of injective modules. To achieve this, rings with finite Gorenstein weak global dimension are characterized as those in which the class \(GP\) of Gorenstein projective modules induces a complete and hereditary cotorsion pair \((GP, Fw)\), where \(Fw\) can be described as the class of modules with flat dimension less than or equal to the Gorenstein weak global dimension of \(R\).\N\NThe authors show two applications of the above result. In the first, for a flat-typed \((\mathcal{L},\mathcal{A})\)-Gorenstein ring with respect to a bi-complete duality pair \((\mathcal{L},\mathcal{A})\) (see [\textit{J. Wang} and \textit{Z. Di}, J. Algebra Appl. 19, No. 8, Article ID 2050147, 22 p. (2020; Zbl 1471.18016)]), a triangle-equivalence \(K(F\cap Cot)\cong K( {}^{\perp}\mathcal{A} \cap \mathcal{A})\) is shown, where \(F\) is the class of flat modules and \(Cot\) is the class of cotorsion modules. In the second, for Ding-Chen rings and for n-coherent Gorenstein rings, triangle-equivalences of Grothendieck duality are exhibited.
