The author considers an extriangulated category \({\mathscr C} = ({\mathscr C},{\mathbb E},{\mathfrak s})\) as defined in [\textit{H. Nakaoka} and \textit{Y. Palu}, Cah. Topol. Géom. Différ. Catég. 60, No. 2, 117--193 (2019; Zbl 1451.18021)].\N\NGiven an additive subbifunctor \({\mathbb F}\) of \({\mathbb E}\) and objects \(X,Y\in{\mathscr C},\) the abelian group \({\mathbb F}(Y,X)\) is a left \(\mathrm{End}_{\mathscr C}(X)\)-module. Denote by \(L\) the partially ordered set (poset) of all its finitely generated submodules with respect to inclusion. The main result is the existence of antiisomorphisms of posets, \(K\overset{\kappa}\to L\) and \(L\overset{\lambda}\to M\).\N\NHere \(K\) consists of the equivalence classes of certain morphisms ending in \(Y\) and determined by a fixed object \(C_{\mathbb F}(X),\) depending on \(X\) and \({\mathbb F};\) see [\textit{M. Auslander}, Lect. Notes Pure Appl. Math. 37, 1--244 (1978; Zbl 0383.16015)]. To construct \(C_{\mathbb F}(X),\) the author defines and uses a relative to \({\mathbb F}\) version of the Auslander-Reiten-Serre duality given in [\textit{O. Iyama} et al., Trans. Am. Math. Soc., Ser. B 11, 248--305 (2024; Zbl 1541.16017)].\N\NThe poset \(M\) consists of certain finitely generated left \(\mathrm{End}_{\mathscr C}(C_{\mathbb F}(X))^{op}\)-submodules of \(\Hom_{\mathscr C}(C_{\mathbb F}(X),Y)\) ordered by inclusion. The composite isomorphism \(\lambda\kappa:K\to M\) is the restricted Auslander bijection at \(Y\) relative to \(C_{\mathbb F}(X);\) see [\textit{C. M. Ringel}, Bull. Math. Sci. 3, No. 3, 409--484 (2013; Zbl 1405.16030)].\N\NHammocks are partially ordered sets introduced in [\textit{S. Brenner}, Lect. Notes Math. 1177, 13--49 (1986; Zbl 0644.16017)] to study finitely generated modules over finite dimensional algebras over an algebraically closed field of finite representation type. In the context of string algebras hammocks were introduced in [\textit{J. Schröer}, Hammocks for string algebras. Bielefeld: Univ. Bielefeld, Fakultät für Mathematik (1997; Zbl 0926.16015)]. The authors are concerned with the computation of order types of hammocks for string algebras.\N\NThe paper considers three classes of linear orders: \(\mathcal{ K\subset L\subset M}.\) The authors refer to \(\mathcal M\) as the class of \textit{finite description linear orders} (see [\textit{H. Läuchli} and \textit{J. Leonard}, Fundam. Math. 59, 109--116 (1966; Zbl 0156.25301)]). Each element of \(\mathcal M\) can be constructed using finitely many order-theoretic operations on a fixed finite set of linear orders. The class \(\mathcal L\) consists of all \textit{bounded discrete} orders in \(\mathcal M,\) and \(\mathcal K\) consists of all \textit{bounded discrete finitely presented} linear orders.\N\NIt is proved in [\textit{S. Sardar} and \textit{A. Kuber}, J. Pure Appl. Algebra 228, No. 12, Article ID 107763, 68 p. (2024; Zbl 1562.16019)] that \(\mathcal K\) is the class of order types of hammocks for domestic string algebras. The paper under review provides a partial generalization of the aforementioned result by proving that for (non-domestic) string algebras the class of order types of hammocks that are bounded discrete linear orders is contained in \(\mathcal L.\) The question of whether the two classes coincide is open.
