Associated generalized Jacobi functions and polynomials (Q805976)

Generalized Jacobi weights are of the form \[ w(x)=\psi (x)\prod^{s+1}_{j=0}| t-x|^{\gamma_ j},\quad -1\leq x\leq 1, \] where \(-1=t_ 0<t_ 1<...<t_ s<t_{s+1}=1\), \(\gamma_ j>-1\) and \(\psi\) (x) is a continuous function of Dini type. The present paper gives pointwise estimates for the functions of the second kind and the associated orthogonal polynomials for a generalized Jacobi weight. The upper bound for the associated polynomials also implies a lower bound for the weight function of these associated polynomials.
