Let \(F\) be a local field. It is known that \((\mathrm{GL}_{2n}(F), \mathrm{Sp}_{2n}(F))\) is a Gelfand pair, by the works of [\textit{O. Offen} and \textit{E. Sayag}, J. Funct. Anal. 254, No. 11, 2846--2865 (2008; Zbl 1143.22013)], [\textit{A. Aizenbud} and \textit{E. Sayag}, J. Lie Theory 22, No. 1, 137--153 (2012; Zbl 1252.22007)] and [\textit{E. Sayag}, ``\((\mathrm{GL}(2n,C)\), \(\mathrm{SP}(2n,C)\)) is a Gelfand pair'', Preprint, \url{arXiv:0805.2625}]. Speh representations, introduced in [\textit{B. Speh}, Invent. Math. 71, 443--465 (1983; Zbl 0505.22015)], are building blocks of the unitary dual of general linear groups. In the paper under review, the authors determine all Speh representations of \(\mathrm{GL}_{2n}(\mathbb R)\) which admits a nonzero \(\mathrm{Sp}_{2n}(F)\)-invariant continuous linear functional on its space of smooth vectors. All these invariant functionals are explicitly constructed. Based on the main result of this paper, the authors arrive at a complete classification of irreducible unitary representations of \(\mathrm{GL}_{2n}(F)\) which are \(\mathrm{Sp}_{2n}(F)\)-distinguished.
