Predictive control of constrained hybrid systems

From MaRDI portal

A framework for modelling and control of mixed logical-dynamical (MLD) systems is proposed. It is shown that the MLD models can be represented by the combination of linear dynamic equations, logical rules, and operating constraints in which propositional logic is transformed into linear inequalities involving binary and continuous variables. The examples of linear hybrid systems, finite state machines, discrete event systems, and constrained linear systems exposed in the MLD framework are given. A systematic control design method for MLD systems based on model predictive control ideas is introduced. The involved on-line optimization procedures are treated by recently developed solvers for mixed-integer quadratic programming problems, MIOP solvers. It is shown that the proposed mixed-integer predictive control strategy provides good stability, tracking, and constraint fulfillment properties. A simulation case study on a complex gas supply system is reported. For the entire collection see [Zbl 0934.00030].
