Stabilizing feedback design for linear systems with rate limited actuators

From MaRDI portal

The authors consider a linear system and assume that the control actuator is subject to rate saturation \[ \begin{cases} \dot x= Ax+ Bv\\ \dot v= \text{sat}_\Delta(- T_1v+ T_2u+d)\end{cases} \] where \(d\) is a disturbance, and \(T_1\), \(T_2\) denote unknown diagonal matrices. The initial values \(x(0)\), \(v(0)\) belong to certain regions \({\mathcal X}\subset\mathbb{R}^n\), \({\mathcal V}\subset\mathbb{R}^m\), respectively. The aim is to find a feedback law \(u= F(x,v)\) such that the closed loop system is asymptotically stable when \(d=0\), and the trajectories are attracted by a prescribed set \(W_0\) when \(|d(t)|<D\) for any given \(D\). The problem is solved by the combination of two techniques: the piecewise linear quadratic control and the low-and-high gain feedback. As an example, the result is applied to feedback design for an F-16 aircraft. For the entire collection see [Zbl 0868.00028].
