The article refers to a Cauchy problem for the energy supercritical semilinear wave equation in three space dimensions. The concepts of solutions in lightcones, blowup time at \(x_o\) and blowup surface are introduced. One ignores the Laplacian in the wave equation and computes explicit solutions, \(u_1(t,x),\) for the remaining differential equation. By applying a time translation symmetry and the Lorentz transform, a 4-parameter family of explicit blowup solutions is generated. The main result of the paper refers to the stability of this family of explicit blowup solutions. The proof extends over several sections devoted to preliminary transformations, semigroup formulation for the linear evolution, spectral analysis and estimates for the nonlinearity.
