In $\mathrm{PG}(3, q)$, a Cameron-Liebler line class $\mathcal L$ with parameter $x$ is a set of lines such that any line $\ell \in \mathcal L$ is disjoint to $(x-1)q^2$ lines of $\mathcal L$ and any line $\ell\notin \mathcal L$ is disjoint to $xq^2$ lines of $\mathcal L$. The set of lines through a point and the set of lines in a plane are examples of a Cameron-Liebler line class with $x = 1$. Other values of $x$ for which there are trivial examples of a Cameron-Liebler line classes are $x =2, q^2, q^2-1$. The central problem for Cameron-Liebler classes is to determine for which parameters $x$ a Cameron-Liebler class exists, and to classify the examples admitting a given parameter $x$. Recently, the concept of Cameron-Liebler line classes has been generalized to many other contexts in which the same central problem arises. In this paper, the authors introduce Cameron-Liebler sets of generators in polar spaces. For each of the polar spaces, they give a list of characterizations (Section 3) and prove some classification results (Section 6).
