Let \(A\) be a finite-dimensional Hopf algebra and let \(J\) be a normalized twist in \(A\). In the paper under review the authors study the relationship between \(n\)-th Sweedler power maps of the Hopf algebra \(A\) and the twisted Hopf algebra \(A^J\). This is used to provide some invariants of the tensor category \(\operatorname{Rep} A\). Several applications to the problem of determining gauge equivalence between finite-dimensional Hopf algebras and gauge invariance of certain quantities associated to a Hopf algebra \(A\) are established.
