The purpose of this survey article is to study special families of orthogonal polynomials satisfying differential equations. In the introduction, `hypergeometric cases' and `hypergeometric differential equations' are discussed. The basis of the investigation is \textit{A. Ronveaux}'s book [Heun's differential equations. Oxford: Oxford University Press (1995; Zbl 0847.34006)] and [\textit{F. W. J. Olver} et al., NIST handbook of mathematical functions. Cambridge: Cambridge University Press (2010; Zbl 1198.00002)], where `Heun's differential equations' are discussed. Since there are so many forms of `Heun's differential equations', the equations (1) and (2) are possibly not in the form that is seen in older textbooks and in Heun's paper. The starting point mathematically is a generalization of the `Jacobi weight function'. Then comes a discussion of continued fractions. On p. 7 comes a theorem for another `Heun's differential equation', whose proof uses Stieltjes-Markov function. There are some discussions of delta functions and the number of singularities of Heun's differential equation.
