The nonlinear initial-value problem for a dissipative equation involving the fractional power \(\theta/2\) of the Laplacian and a specific nonlinear extra force term containing a linear operator is studied. The existence and uniqueness of a solution \(u\) of the above problem in a specific functional space is obtained in Appendix A, with some assumptions on \(\theta\), by using the fundamental solution of the linearized problem and Banach's contraction mapping theorem. The fundamental solution of the linearized problem is also used to introduce an integral equation. The solution of this integral equation (called mild solution) is used to get asymptotic expansions for \(u\). The main point of the paper is to estimate the distance between \(u\) and these asymptotic expansions. Then, the large time behavior of \(u\) is studied. The main tools are: renormalization with respect to both space and time variables, Hörmander-Minkowski estimates, the Hausdorff-Young inequality, the Lebesgue monotone convergence theorem and the decay properties of \(u\) for large distances. Some interesting particular examples for the linear operator are given in Appendix B.
