There are reviewed the main approaches for asymptotic stabilization using dynamic output feedback controls and based on asymptotic observers. First, the main methods for constructing of global asymptotic observers are briefly presented. Next, there are considered some classes of control systems, for which the global asymptotic stabilization is provided by separate construction of the stabilizing state feedback and the asymptotic observer for estimation of the state of the system with subsequent substitution of the state estimate in the feedback. At last, an approach for global asymptotic stabilization by a dynamic output feedback is described. This approach also makes use of the system state estimate and relies on a direct stabilization of a suitably constructed extended system.
