Nowadays, there are essentially two notions of higher-order mechanical systems on Lie algebroids. The first one, due to Martinez and collaborators, is based on Lie algebroid prolongations while the second one, due to Grabowski and collaborators, uses the concept of Tulczyjew triple and the geometry of graded bundles. The present paper aims to unify these two approaches for the case of second-order Lagrangian systems into a symplectic setting by using a Lagrangian Lie subalgebroid. The main source for the idea behind the present construction is the case of tangent bundle developed by \textit{M. de Leon} and \textit{E. A. Lacomba} [J. Phys. A, Math. Gen. 22, No. 18, 3809--3820 (1989; Zbl 0719.53017)].
