Different uniformity concepts are discussed for cocycles taking values in \(\mathrm{SL}(2,\mathbb{R})\) over dynamical systems (meaning a homeomorphism of a compact metric space). With an eye to later applications, a general result describing uniform one-parameter families of continuous \(\mathrm{SL}(2,\mathbb{R})\) cocycles as \(G_{\delta}\) sets in a suitable topology. This preparatory general work is brought to bear on Schrödinger operators with dynamically defined potentials. For a specific class of underlying minimal dynamical system (those satisfying the `Boshernitzan condition' which in addition to minimality requires an invariant Borel probability measure with a prescribed asymptotic uniformity condition on the mass of cylinder sets) it is shown that for a generic continuous sampling function the associated Schrödinger cocycles are uniform for all energies. Other results give information about the spectrum of the operator.
