The paper aims to establish a basepoint-free theorem of Reid-Fukuda type for quasi-log schemes. Additionally, it presents a comprehensive overview of the subject, delving into recent advancements in the theory of quasi-log schemes. The author meticulously explores these developments, providing in-depth explanations and thorough proofs for certain intermediate results, such as the well-known Kawamata-Shokurov basepoint-free theorem. As a consequence of the main theorem, the author also demonstrates an analogous basepoint-free theorem for a log canonical pair \((X,\Delta)\) with respect to a proper morphism \(\pi\colon X\rightarrow S\).
