A non-negative and finite Borel measure \(\mu\) on the unit sphere \(\mathbb{S}^{n-1}\) is said to be not concentrated on any closed hemisphere if \[ \inf_{e \in \mathbb{S}^{n-1}} \int_\mathbb{S}^{n-1} \max\{e \cdot \theta, 0\} d \mu(\theta) > 0. \] Denote by \(\mathcal{K}_n^0\) be the set of all convex bodies of \(\mathbb{R}^n\) containing the origin in their interior, and for a body \(\Omega \in \mathcal{K}_n^0\), by \(\mu^{tor}_{p,\Omega}\) its \(L_p\) torsion measure. For \(p > 1\) and \(n \geq 3\) arbitrarily fixed the authors propose the following problem (called by them, the \(L_p\) Minkowski problem for torsion): given a non-negative and finite Borel measure \(\mu\) on the unit sphere \(\mathbb{S}^{n-1}\), under what necessary and sufficient conditions does there exist a unique convex body \(\Omega\) of \(\mathbb{R}^n\) such that \(\mu^{tor}_{p,\Omega} = \mu\)? The main result of the paper can be stated as follows: If \(\mu\) is a non-negative and finite Borel measure on the unit sphere \(\mathbb{S}^{n-1}\), not concentrated on any closed hemisphere and \(p \neq n + 2\), then there exists a unique convex body \(\Omega \in \mathcal{K}_n^0\) such that \(\mu^{tor}_{p,\Omega}= \mu\). In order to prove the uniqueness of the solution the authors establish a \(L_p\) Minkowski inequality for torsion.
