Knowledge spaces
The volume under review discusses the concept of knowledge in a very different way, comparatively with the existing approaches. The main ideas are taken from the current research in combinatorics, any possible numerical representation being neglected. The essential concept is that of ``units of knowledge. Other two key concepts on which the authors rely are those of ``knowledge state and, respectively, ``knowledge structure. The application of such concepts permits to induce several lattice-theoretical developments (if considering the empirical applications following). Another aspect refers to the behaviour and responses of humans when faced with various problems and questions. Also, a probabilistic theory is put forward, for dealing with the uncertainties that occur, and numerous schemes are offered for evidencing the knowledge state of a person. The 13 years of hard work, where the volume was realized, are fully justified by its unquestionable scientific value.
